how soon can you take a pregnancy test after pregnyl 1500
How soon after an IU can take a pregnancy test? Just relax. Try not to think about it, because there is nothing I can do now," your friend advises you after your most recent. Aren't these suggestions... beyond frustration? Your friend is right, of course. But they're also assuming that your advice can be followed, which is sometimes incorrect. Actually, for many people, relaxing after an IU is much easier to say than to do it. You want to know — yesterday, preferably — if it worked. But unfortunately, there are good reasons why you should not take a pregnancy test before your clinic advises you. And in many cases, that is at least 14 days after your IU. To understand why you can take a pregnancy test about 14 days after IUI, it is important to understand how IUI – and the treatments that normally accompany them – fit into the entire conception timeline. Ovulation time In an IUI, sperm is injected directly into the uterus. But as with sex, an IU must be precisely tempered to make the pregnancy happen. It's no use for sperm to hang in their reproductive organs unless there's an egg that's ready for them. The release of an egg is called, and in a healthy natural cycle, usually happens a couple of weeks before its period is due. In a natural IUI, that is, one without fertility medications, you will receive ultrasound control and possibly be asked to perform ovulation tests at home to determine your ovulation date. You will receive the IUI one day or so before your expected ovulation window. Did you know? Most of the time, especially in cases of infertility, but also in situations where same-sex couples or single individuals use sperm donors, fertility medications and frequent ultrasound monitoring are used at the foreground of IU to determine when a mature egg will be released from the ovaries. This aligns with what happens in a natural cycle, except that medicines can be used to change time a little and can also lead to more than one egg (and release) mating. More than one egg = higher chances of pregnancy, but also higher chances of multiple. The Fertilized Egg Trip If an IUI works, you end up with a fertilized egg that then needs to travel through one of the Falopio tubes to the uterus and implant. (This is the same as what would have to happen if fertilization occurred as a result of sex.) This process —a — may take about 6 to 12 days, with the average of about 9 to 10 days. From the implant to adequate levels of hCGYou will start to produce the hCG pregnancy hormone after implantation, and not before. Home pregnancy tests work by . These tests have a threshold, which means they can only detect hCG if their level is above that threshold. This is usually around 20 to 25 international units per milliliter (mIU/mL), although some more sensitive tests can collect smaller amounts. It will take a few days after successful implantation so that you have enough hCG in your urine to do a positive home pregnancy test. All this adds to the need to wait 14 days after your IUI before taking a pregnancy test at home. Your clinic can go ahead and schedule for a 14-day after the IIU as well. Making Math If it takes 6 to 12 days after a successful IU to implant a fertilized egg, and 2 to 3 days for HCG to build, you can see why it is best to wait at least 14 days to take a pregnancy test. Of course, if the fertilized egg only takes 6 days in its case, it can be able to take a pregnancy test 9 or 10 days after the IU and get a weak positive. But you could also have a negative when, in fact, everything worked — and that can be discouraging. So for the most accurate results, wait. Things get a little more complicated if your IUI includes certain medicines, but the 14-day guideline remains applicable and can be even more important. Shot of the trigger If your doctor wants time even more precisely, you can prescribe a "un trigger team". This injection of hormones tells your body to release your mature egg(s) in preparation for an IUI (rather than waiting for it to happen naturally). Your doctor will usually schedule IUI for 24 to 36 hours after the shooting. Here is the kicker: The trigger usually contains hCG at the tune of 5,000 or 10,000 IUs. It is literally what "triggers" your body to release any mature egg. What a multitaker! To see why it is a problem, imagine taking a pregnancy test at home a few hours after your trigger but before your IU. Guess what? It would be positive. But you're not pregnant — you haven't even ovulated! Depending on the dose, you can take about 14 days to get the trigger shot out of your system. So if you take a pregnancy test before 14 days after your IUI and get a positive, it can be a fake hCG leftover positive in your body — not again hCG produced after implantation. And false positives can be devastating. 'Testing' the trigger Some women choose to "test" their trigger. To do this, they will buy a lot of cheap pregnancy tests at home and take one daily, starting a day or two after your IUI. The test, of course, will be positive initially, but it must be lighter and lighter as the trigger drops its system in the next two weeks. If you get a negative test but then you start getting positive again — or if the line has become very weak and then you start to get darker in the following days — you can indicate the HCG recently produced from an implanted embryo. Progesterone Supplements Your doctor may also need to start progesterone supplements right after your IUI. These are designed to thicken your uterine coating to make it more receptive to implantation. Progesterone can also help support pregnancy if your natural levels are low. Unlike the trigger, progesterone does not get into a home pregnancy test. But progesterone can make it common if IU worked or not. (Probably progesterone levels are increased in pregnant women who cause signs of nausea such as morning disease and pained breasts. So supplementation can do the same.) Basic theme: Do not trust the symptoms too much if progesterone is part of your IUI plan. Take a pregnancy test at home 14 days after IU—or when your clinic advises you—and if it is negative, unfortunately you may have to attribute your symptoms to the progesterone supplements you are in. While you are waiting to try, you can start having some very early signs of pregnancy, especially by day 13 or 14. If you are not in progesterone, this could be promising: But these symptoms do not always occur, even in women who are pregnant. The only sure signs are a lost period with a positive pregnancy test from your doctor's office. The two weeks of waiting (TWW) after an IU can be extremely difficult, but it is worth avoiding possible false positives and false negatives in home pregnancy tests. Follow your clinic's instructions and wait at least 14 days after the IIU before taking a test. Many clinics will schedule you for a 14-day pregnancy blood test. A blood test can detect lower HCG levels and is considered even more accurate than urine tests. Hold on. We see you, and we know how anxious you are to see that positive. If you should take a test before your TWW is up, you know we fully understand it. Just don't put all your hope or despair into what you see, and try again when your doctor tells you.
